What to consider first

What to consider first

Successful projects are based on 3 things:

  • A clear Brief from the customer which sets out their needs and desires;
  • A good understanding of the site (eg. topography, solar orientation, etc) and other contextual information such as service provision (eg. electricity, water, drainage, waste disposal, telecommunications), including the potential for renewable energy generation;
  • An efficient and effective approach to design and delivery

MAKAR base their project planning on these 3 factors.

The first stage in planning a construction project is to develop a brief for what kind of building you would like and to find an appropriate plot of land on which to build.

The following two sections on choosing a plot and forming a brief will provide guidelines on how to achieve this.
